I couldn't really speak to his situation because he is represented by a REALTORŪ, and REALTORSŪ are forbidden by the REALTORŪ Code of Ethics from interfering with another REALTOR'SR transaction. But I could say that I've represented sellers who were forced to deposit funds to close; so yes, it does happen. I've closed several such transactions recently, and they did not create warm, fuzzy moments for the cash-strapped sellers, but it's a fact of today's marketplace.
