Open House Etiquette Tips for Home Buyers

Do you realize that even if you're not actively shopping to buy a home, you can still go to an open house?

Open houses are just that -- open to the public. Anybody can visit an open house, and they do. Kids riding by on bicycles, people in wheelchairs, couples out walking the dog, next-door neighbors, other real estate agents, spouses house hunting alone, motorcycle dudes / dudettes, families on their way to the ice cream store, couples coming back from the movies and, of course, actual home buyers. Everybody is welcome.

There is no need to apologize to the host of the open house if you're not in the market to buy; however, if you are a home buyer, you can find yourself in hot water if you don't follow the etiquette for open houses.
