Real Estate Guru and Columnist Robert Bruss Dies

Wednesday September 26, 2007
Robert Bruss, respected and well known real estate author, died today at his Northern California home in the Silicon Valley, as reported by Inman News. He was 67. The cause of death was cancer, Inman says. Mr. Bruss, a California real estate lawyer and real estate broker, was syndicated in all the major newspapers. You couldn't pick up a weekend newspaper without reading the Real Estate Mailbag by Bob Bruss. Readers from all over the country wrote daily to Mr. Bruss, asking questions on every conceivable real estate topic, knowing that he wouldn't spare any punches. He delivered straight-up and honest real estate advice.

I met Bob Bruss in 1980 at a national real estate convention. We had dinner together and shared war stories; he was also from Minneapolis. The things that have always stuck in my mind about Mr. Bruss are his well developed sense of humor, upbeat attitude and professional demeanor. He was a wonderful writer, kind and understanding to everybody, even to those who surely annoyed him, like me. I am saddened to learn of his passing. His work will be sorely missed.

I will always remember Mr. Bruss as a true real estate pioneer.
