Songs About Homes and Houses

Monday October 15, 2007
Every try thinking about songs that have the word houses or homes in songs?

I often give buyers a gift upon closing escrow. When buyers purchased a property on a street called Rockaway, it made me think of The Ramones, a band I knew these buyers appreciated. So I made them a CD with Rockaway Beach and other Ramones' tunes as a closing gift.

It made me wonder about other types of music and which songs might make people think about buying a home. I didn't come up with very many, to be honest. But I did think of a slew of tunes that are about homes or houses. One didn't make my list: House of the Rising Sun. But when you consider what that song is actually about, it's not really very appropriate.

I like to put a little fun into the serious business of real estate, which is why I thought of songs about houses and homes. After you read the following link, I'm hoping you'll also notice that I've included a poll at the end. Go ahead and vote for your favorite song, and see where it ranks among other music lovers' favorites. You might be astonished at the number one song . . . read more about homes in songs.
