Alternatives to Selling Your Home: When Your Home Won't Sell, No Matter What

Friday December 7, 2007
If you've tried selling your home and it just won't sell, why not consider alternatives to home selling?

When you've tried everything under the sun to sell that home, even burying a St. Joseph's statue in your yard -- which you now consider a wasted effort and perhaps a bit silly -- maybe it's time to look at your options. Selling your home isn't the only option, even if a job transfer forces you to move.

Dropping your price sometimes won't make a bit of difference, either, especially if your market is flooded with inventory. Although agents are quick to point out that price is generally the biggest draw, if buyers aren't buying in your neighborhood, a price reduction isn't likely to motivate them. If they wanted to offer less, there are plenty of buyers floating around who are quick on the draw with lowball offers.

Let's face it, in some markets, you can't give your home away. If you put a big sign in the front yard that said, "Just Take This Home at Any Price," buyers might shrug their shoulders and continue on their merry way to Wal-Mart or the library or any other destination that doesn't involve thinking about buying homes.

So, if you've been dead set on getting that home sold, it might be a good idea to direct your attention elsewhere . . . read more about Alternatives to Home Selling.
