Before Selling Your Home

Wednesday February 6, 2008
Before getting ready to sell your home, before you even consider putting your home on the market, here are five essential steps you should take to be fully prepared to sell.

I'm not talking about home staging, decluttering, painting, fixing maintenance issues, printing marketing materials, writing ad copy or doing any of the 101 things you need to do to sell. This is the early stages. The getting ready stages. The "am I ready to sell?" stages.

Some sellers think they are ready to move, and they find out the hard way that they are not ready. Some think they can qualify for a loan and find out that even if they sell at the lowest-priced possible offer -- which is reasonably priced against the comparable sales -- they won't net enough to buy the home they want.

Follow these five steps to getting ready to sell, and you'll have a really good idea about whether you are prepared to sell. Neglect these steps, and you could be making severe selling mistakes. . . . read more about Before Selling Your Home.
