Selling Your Home at an Open House

Wednesday June 18, 2008
Holding a successful open house is a fun and easy way to sell your home, providing you follow a few simple rules.

Now, there are some parts of the country where an open house doesn't attract a lot of buyers, but where I sell in Sacramento, it's almost a religious experience for buyers to attend an open house. And homes sell because of the open.

If a seller isn't prepared to hold an open house, the home should not go on the market until it is ready to be shown. Buyers love to explore new listings. Remember, you can’t sell a house if you can’t get the buyers inside it. The truth is all the virtual tours and online photographs don’t take the place of actually touring a home in person. So what better way to show off your home than to hold an open house? Sure, you’ll get nosey neighbors dropping in and your share of lookie-loos, but all these people have friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances who might be home buyers . . . read more about holding an open house.
