Real Estate Seminars Are Dog and Pony Shows

Monday August 4, 2008
If P. T. Barnum were alive today, he would be promoting real estate seminars and hawking books and CDs on the seminar circuit.

Just when you think that all the real estate crooks have either filed bankruptcy again or fled the country to avoid prosecution, a new wave of seminar speakers appear to be popping up in their place. Or maybe it's the same old rip-off artists with a new twist on an old scam. It seems every time you open the newspaper there's a full-page ad screaming in your face: "Buy Real Estate & Get Cash Back," "Buy Homes 30% under Market Value," or "Make Money in Foreclosures."

Savvy real estate investors realize that no lender will let a buyer walk away from closing with cash back, agents don't sell homes under market when they could buy them for their own portfolios and if you don't follow procedures to the letter of law when dealing with foreclosures, you could lose everything you own along with the shirt off your back.

But whether P. T. Barnum ever said, "There's a sucker born every minute," there's truth in that statement. Just attend any free real estate seminar and watch how fast fools and their money are parted . . . read more about Real Estate Seminars.
