Home Buyers Ask: When Should I Call My Agent?

Monday September 22, 2008
Buyers and sellers often tell me they have no idea what kinds of hours agents work and worry that it could be too early or too late to call an agent.

I've had clients call and say, "I know you're probably in the middle of dinner," and I was, "But would you mind showing us a home right now?" Even though the home they asked to see was all wrong for them and located on the wrong street. I responded by asking them to look down the street to the left and tell me what they saw. Cars. OK, now look down the street to the right and tell me what you see. Cars. OK, do you want to live on a busy street? No.

As a result, I turn on my cell phone in the mornings at 7 and turn it off at 7 PM. I can be reached by email after working hours for emergencies. But that's just my policy. Some agents work shorter hours and some longer . . . read more about when to call my agent.
