Homeowners insurance is one of those things that people rarely think about until they are ready to submit a claim. Few wonder if they are paying too much.

If you're buying a home, you need homeowners insurance. Not only do you need to protect your equity, but your lender will require that you carry adequate insurance. So how much is enough coverage and which companies have the best rates? The answers aren't as clear cut as you might think.
