How to Sell a Home When You're Splitting Up

Couples who own a home and are splitting up often have to deal with two stresses: getting a divorce and home selling.

You know, Danny DeVito hit it on the head: sometimes divorce is war. You might think everything is going along smoothly, but then all of a sudden you discover your partner absconded with the last roll of aluminum foil. And you bought that roll of aluminum foil. It’s yours. But now it’s gone. And the thief won’t give it back. So war breaks out.

There’s no telling what will cause a divorcing couple to explode.

People can be unpredictable. Which means no matter how well the two of you may have gotten along in the past, the smartest step you can take when contemplating a divorce is to protect yourself. Protect your credit. Protect your assets. Because nobody else is going to do it, and you should not ignore pending consequences.
