"Underwriter"Definition: Evil trolls. Only kidding! Underwriters finalize the loan, analyze lender risk and reserve the right to ask for additional conditions to be performed or delivered prior to funding. Examples: Underwriters can ask for a copy of a canceled check as evidence that a certain payment had been made by the borrower prior to funding the loan.
