East Sacramento's boundaries run from Sacramento State University and Elvas on the east to Alhambra on the west; Folsom Boulevard to the south and the American River to the north. Development in East Sacramento began in the 1890s, when the Sacramento Electric Power and Light Company laid streetcar lines. It was annexed to the city of Sacramento in 1911, and one of the first developments, the exclusive Fabulous 40s, broke ground in 1914.
Today, East Sacramento is a vibrant community, comprised of residents from all walks of life. It boasts an abundance of parks such as McKinley Park and East Portal Park, is home to Mercy Hospital and East Lawn Memorial, and it offers an easy commute to downtown.
